Adopt An Instrument - Harpsichord by Gommaar Van Everbroeck, Antwerp, 1659

Harpsichord by Gommaar Van Everbroeck, Antwerp, 1659

$5,000.00

The only surviving harpsichord by one of the makers of the great 17th-century Flemish school. With its intact original decoration, it is one of the few Flemish harpsichords to have escaped extensive later rebuilding. The lid inscription translates: “Reader, neither the author nor the work requires your praise: the work glorifies the author; the author [glorifies] the work.”
